CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional
The CFP® is the hallmark designation for financial planners conferred by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. To receive authorization to use the designation, the candidate must meet education, examination, experience and ethics requirements. Candidates must first have three years of financial planning experience and a bachelor's degree or five years of financial planning experience. Designees must follow up with 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
RFC® – Registered Financial Consultant
Conferred by the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants upon advisors who meet and document seven stringent requirements of education, experience, examination, integrity, licensing, ethics and a significant amount of continuing professional education.
LUTCF® – Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow
Conferred by the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA in conjunction with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors upon advisors who demonstrate a thorough understanding of a variety of insurance products. Advisors must complete five required courses, plus one course on ethics, and an examination.
